Barksdale Named to NFHCA All-Region Second Team

GILBERT, Ariz. - The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region squads were announced on Wednesday with 196 student-athletes receiving either first or second-team recognition across the six regions. Clark University junior, Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.) was named to the NFHCA New England East Region Second Team following and outstanding 2017 campaign.

Barksdale led the Cougars offensively with 19 points from seven goals and five assists this season and was also named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, All-Conference Second Team at the conclusion of the season.

There were 99 student-athletes on the first team and 97 on the second team across the six regions, which included the Great Lakes, New England East, New England West, North Atlantic, South Atlantic and South. Broken down by class, the All-Region squads consisted of 93 seniors, 59 juniors, 28 sophomores and 16 freshmen.

The Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Regional Players of the Year will be announced on Thursday, with the All-America squad coming out on Dec. 6 and the National Player of the Year on Dec. 13. The six All-Region teams are listed in full below.
