Clearwater, Fla. – Sophomore Jeffrey Wasson (Buckhorn, Ontario) notched a career-high five goals and senior Chris Johnson (Amherst, Mass.) became just the eighth player in school history to top the 100-point career barrier as the Cougars rolled to a 12-2 win over DeSales University at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex.
Clark took control early as Johnson, Wasson and Nick Figliola (Weston, Conn.) all recorded first period markers.
Up 3-0 entering the second quarter, the Cougars scored five more goals to take an 8-0 halftime edge. In the decisive period Clark got goals from Phil Winslow (Providence, R.I.), Wasson, two from Jonah Bass (Amherst, Mass.) and the second career goal from Ian Daly (Wantagh, N.Y.).
The Cougars added three more goals in the third period as Wasson scored two more with help from Winslow and Bass, respectively, and Johnson added another for an 11-0 advantage.
DeSales finally got on board when a pair of freshmen – Ben Krocheski (Plano, Texas) and Ryan Rowse (Ijamsville, Md.) – teamed up for the first goal.
Rowse then tallied the Bulldogs other goal on an unassisted marker late in the fourth and Wasson ended the scoring with his ninth goal of the year.
Clark, now 1-1, will return to action on Monday when they play their home opener against Anna Maria at 7:00 p.m.
