Boston, Mass. – After a record-setting season that saw him lead Clark University to the program's first-ever New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title appearance, lacrosse head coach Jeff Cohen has been named the 2017 NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year it has been announced by the league office.

The award for Cohen marks his third coach of the year award since becoming the head coach at his alma mater back in 2009. He was named Pilgrim League Coach of the Year in both 2010 and 2011 and joins MIT's legendary head coach Walter Alessi as the only three-time recipients.

Cohen guided the Scarlet and White to a school-record 13 wins and a share of the regular season conference title by setting a school-record for conference victories (6).

2017 saw the Cougars go 7-1 at home, tie the school record for consecutive wins (6) and set season benchmarks for points (310), goals scored (194) and assists (116).

In just eight seasons at the helm of the program, not only is Cohen the program's all-time leader in wins, but his 64 victories are more than half of the program's all-time wins (126) in their 28 years of existence.

One of the all-time greats at Clark, Cohen was a two-year captain and finished his career with 130 points – a total that is still good for seventh on the school's all-time list and he still ranks third in faceoff win percentage (.522) and fifth in assists (66).

Cohen was named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference team twice (2001, 2002) and to the Pilgrim League All-Conference team three times (1999, 2001, 2002) during his time as an undergraduate.

He received a Merit Award in 2002, which is given annually to senior student-athletes who have made a significant impact on their sport and finished his career playing in the NEILA East/West All-Star game.

A 2002 Clark University graduate, Cohen holds a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in sociology.
