Boston, Mass. – After a stellar freshman campaign, Bobby Philbin (Ridgefield, Conn.) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Second-Team All-Conference it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
The honor for Philbin comes after the Cougars set a school record for wins in a season (13) and advanced to the program's first-ever title game.
Philbin stepped into the faceoff role and flourished, posting a faceoff win percentage of 60.3, the second-best mark in school history behind only Matt Fields in 2012 (62.6).
Despite sharing time at the faceoff "X" with Darius Jagminas and Eliot Pressman, Philbin finished the season ranked sixth in the league in faceoff wins (135) – second-most amongst all freshmen.
Philbin had several monster performances in his inaugural season, including 13 wins in a 14-9 victory at Babson, 11 in the NEWMAC Semifinal win over MIT and a career-best 14 in a mid-week league win at Massachusetts Maritime.
He also provided some offense, registering a pair of goals and an assist, while scooping up 46 ground balls.
