Maguire, Munroe, and Stark Earn NEWMAC 2017 Men's Soccer Postseason Awards

WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the Men's Soccer All-Conference and Postseason Awards on Tuesday morning. Clark University men's soccer senior goalkeeper, Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) and sophomore Sean Munroe (Silver Spring, Md.) were named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team while teammate Jack Stark (Abington, Mass.) was named to the conference All-Sportsmanship team.

Maguire finished the season with 110 saves and a .791 save percentage and helped lead the team to a NEWMAC Semifinal appearance. He finished the 2017 campaign with four shutouts and a 6-6-4 overall record. Munroe finished as the Cougar's top goal scorer with 30 points on the season from 15 goals including three game-winners.

After an impressive 2017 season, leading the conference in goals and total points, Wheaton's Amara Sesay has been named the Athlete of the Year. Helping lead Coast Guard to one of the most impressive seasons in program history highlighted with 11 shutouts, Austin Read has been named the Defensive Player of the Year while MIT's Loukas Carayannopoulos was voted the 2017 Rookie of the Year. 

Voted by the eight men's soccer coaches, Wheaton's Mike Coven has been named the 2017 Men's Soccer Coach of the Year. 

The NEWMAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Team consists of a first team of 12 selections and a second team of 13 individuals that are voted on by the men's soccer coaches from the conference. The 2017 honorees are listed below. 

Also being recognized are the eight men's soccer players that were named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of his/her overall performance or statistics for the season. The men's soccer honorees are listed below.
