Worcester, Mass. – Clark University men's soccer players, sophomore Sean Munroe (Silver Spring, Md.) and senior Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) were named to the New England Soccer Journal Division III Best XI's, third team, for the 2017 season.
At the conclusion of the 2017 season Maguire was named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference First Team. He finished the season with 110 saves and a .791 save percentage and helped lead the team to a NEWMAC Semifinal appearance. He finished the 2017 campaign with four shutouts and a 6-6-4 overall record.
"Maguire's numbers weren't lights out, but he was still arguably the NEWMAC's best goalkeeper. He was part of a senior class that transformed the Cougars into a regional contender." Said Jonathan Sigal from the New England Soccer Journal.
Munroe was also a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team recipient. He finished as the Cougar's top goal scorer with 30 points on the season from 15 goals including three game-winners. Munroe finished the 2017 season as the second-leading scorer in the NEWMAC.
Maguire and Munroe were also both named to the NEWMAC Men's Soccer Academic All-Conference team.
