Worcester, Mass. – Four different Clark University student-athletes won individual events but in the end it wasn't enough as New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Coast Guard posted a 172-90 win in men's swimming action on Saturday at the Kneller Center Pool.
- Standout diver Steven Castiglione (North Haven, Conn.) won both the 1-meter (225.40) the 3-meter (165.55). Teammate Marco Moneti (Bloomington, Minn.) was second in both events, turning in a score of 144.10 on the 1-meter but just missing out on knocking off his teammate on the 3-meter (165.50).
- Vlad Kiveliyk (Southington, Conn.) took first place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.87) over teammate Donovan Smith (Amherst, Mass.) (5:53.01) and then finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.09).
- Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) was first to touch the wall (56.74) in the 100-yard butterfly, ahead of teammates Eddie McCluskey (Hope, Maine), who was second (59.34) and Sebastian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) who was third (1:00.51). In addition to his victory in the 100-yard butterfly, Ortega was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.22) and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (51.95).
- Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass.) was victorious in the 400-yard IM (4:48.71) and had a fourth place effort in the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.03) and a sixth place showing in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.28)
Clark is back in action on Wednesday when they visit WPI at 6:30 p.m.
