Babson Park, Mass. – Clark University junior Dan Paradee (Gardiner, Maine) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis singles player of the week the conference office announced on Monday evening.
Paradee went 4-0 in singles action and 2-0 in doubles play in the Cougars undefeated Spring Break trip last week.
Playing three matches at No. 5 and one at No. 3, Paradee posted a trio of straight victories at No. 5 then picked a three-set tiebreak victory in his lone match at No. 3.
In Clark's 8-1 win over King's College, Paradee took down P.T. Romano, 6-1, 6-0 and then in a 6-3 win over Saint Mary's, he defeated Gavin Smith, 6-3, 6-2.
The Cougars knocked off Colby-Sawyer 7-2, and Paradee, playing at No. 3 posted a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) tiebreak victory against Nolan Foley. Later in the same day he rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win over David Rowe in Clark's thrilling 5-4 win over Ursinus.
With Paradee helping lead the way, the Cougars have won four straight matches for the first time in 20 seasons.
Clark returns to action on Friday with a visit to Bridgewater State before hosting Emerson College on Saturday in their home opener.
