Babson Park, Mass. – Sophomore Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.) and the doubles combination of junior Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) and freshman Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio) swept the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis awards it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Stein helped lead the Cougars to an easy 9-0 win over future conference foe Emerson, 9-0 on Saturday in Clark's lone match of the week. Playing at No. 2 singles, he rolled past the Lions' Brett Walkoff in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-4. He also teamed up with freshman Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) to take down Emerson's Kevin Blisnivk and Nate Fuller, 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The award for Stein marks the second consecutive week in which the Cougars have earned the weekly honor following Dan Paradee's selection on March 12.
Angel and Goodstein, meanwhile, earned the men's doubles award after improving to 3-2 as a duo with an 8-3 win over Mitchell Lance and Walkoff at No. 1.
Clark, winners of five straight matches to start the spring season, will face its stiffest test yet on Friday when they travel across town to face Division I Holy Cross at 4:00 p.m.
