Men's Tennis Sends Two To ITA Championships

Williamstown, Mass. – A pair of Clark University men's tennis student-athletes took part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships on Friday.

The event hosted by Williams College, had a singles bracket featuring 64 players at the start of the day, while the doubles draw was made up of 48 teams from 22 different schools.

Clark's participants, Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Teodor Nicola-Antoniu (Bucharest, Romania) each played a singles match then teamed up for doubles action.

Siegel squared off against Vlad Murad who bested him in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

For Nicola-Antoniu, meanwhile, he faced NEWMAC rival Jeremiah Reyser of Wheaton. Their showdown went three sets with Nicola-Antoniu getting the first 6-3 before Reyser stormed back to take the match, capturing the final two sets 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles action, Nicola-Antoniu and Siegel went head-to-head with a Colby-Sawyer tandem of Gustav Jigrup and Alex Wright and fought hard but fell, 8-4.

Clark is scheduled to be back in action as a team on Sunday when they host Salve Regina.
