Cougars Face Stiff Competition On Sunday

Worcester, Mass. – The Clark University rowing team faced some stiff competition as it continues to prepare for the upcoming NEWMAC Championships out on the water on Sunday morning on Lake Quinsigamond.

The women’s varsity four race was the best of the day for the Cougars as they finished first and second in that event. Clark’s B boat took top honors in 8:10.2 but was closely followed by the Scarlet and White’s second submission (8:22.9).

The men’s varsity four churned out a third place finish in their race, posting a time of 7:20.3 right on the heels of the University of Vermont’s B boat (7:18.5). The Catamounts’ A boat crossed the finish line first in 7:10.9.

Clark’s second varsity eight finished with a time of 8:10.0. Vermont won the race in 7:31.3 and were followed by Simmons (7:36.5) and Mount Holyoke (7:53.9).

The Cougar varsity eight posted a time of 7:33.0 in their race, which was also won by Vermont (7:08.7). Mount Holyoke (7:09.9) and Simmons (7:24.8) helped round out the top four.
