Babson Park, Mass. – Clark University senior captain Erin Murphy (Boxborough, Mass.) has been named to the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Second-Team it was announced following a vote of the league's nine head coaches on Monday afternoon.
The honor for Murphy comes less than a week after being awarded the Pat Hassett Award, given to the student-athlete who does the most to the Clark and Worcester communities at the University's annual athletics awards night.
Murphy split time at catcher and third base, wrapping up her senior campaign with a team-leading .367 average and 40 hits. She also led the Cougars in slugging (.560), doubles (nine) and total bases (61), while hitting a career-best four homeruns.
A two-sport student-athlete, Murphy never missed a game in either field hockey or softball and started all 202 combined games during her eight seasons of collegiate competition.
She definitely saved her best season for the last one, however, recording 11 multi-hit games, including a 4-for-7, two homerun, four runs scored, five RBI twinbill during a sweep over Smith.
Murphy wraps up her stellar career ranked near the top of several Clark statistical categories including fourth in homeruns (12), seventh in games played (138), tenth in doubles (23), 12th in RBI (66), 13th in total bases (167) and 18th in hits (108).
