HOW IT HAPPENED

Game #1: Babson 3, Clark

-Clark took a 1-0 lead with two outs in the second when senior Ali Reilly (New Canaan, Conn.) misplayed junior Kendra Walker's (Cumberland, R.I.) bunt allowing Christina Kopacz (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) to score from second. The Green and White tied it in the bottom of the frame though, as sophomore Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.) singled home senior Nicole Civello (Huntington Station, N.Y.), who came on as a pinch runner after Alex Corrigan (Middletown, N.J.) doubled to lead off the frame.

-After leaving a pair of runners in scoring position in the third, the Beavers went ahead for good in the fifth as Casey led off with a double and moved to third on a passed ball before scoring on junior Ashley Tango's (Reading, Mass.) single to center to make it 2-1. Reilly struck out first-year Emily Vincent (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) with runners on second and third in the top of the sixth and Babson extended its lead to 3-1 when junior Annie Quine (Santa Monica, Calif.) singled and later scored on an error in the bottom of the inning.

-Eight different Babson players had a hit and Corrigan and sophomore Victoria Casey (Emerson, N.J.) both doubled in the opener for the Beavers. Reilly gave up just one unearned run on three hits in a complete-game effort to improve to 8-2 with the win.

-Kopacz went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Cougars. Senior Sami West (Gonic, N.H.) took the loss after giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out one and walking one in 4.1 innings.

Game #2: Babson 18, Clark 6

-Clark jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the first, but Quine hammered a two-run homer to left and first-year Jamie Hoffman (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) followed with a two-run double to give the Green and White a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the frame. The Cougars scored three times with two outs in the second, including a two-run triple to center by senior Leah Bodin (Andover, Vt.) to cut their deficit to 5-4 only to see Babson responded with six runs in its half of the inning.

-Quine came through with an RBI single, sophomore Kayla Schinik (Watchung, N.J.) cleared the bases with a triple to right and sophomore Jacqueline Paul (Burlington, N.J.) drove in her second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to make it 11-4. The Beavers put the game away with seven more runs in the fourth inning, which included two-run doubles by both Civello and Tango as well as an RBI single by junior Josephine Mares (Houston, Texas.).

-Quine went 3-for-3 with a home run and four runs batted in, Tango doubled twice and drove in two runs, and Hoffman went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs to lead the Beavers' 16-hit onslaught. Civello added a two-run double and Schinik contributed a bases loaded triple in the win.

-Kopacz and Bodin both drove in a pair of runs, while first-year Jessica Urella (North Grafton, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a double, and RBI and two runs scored for the Cougars.

-First-year Isabella DiOrio (Lincoln, R.I.) retired just one batter in the first inning and dropped to 0-1 on the year with the loss.
