Worcester, Mass. - Clark received goals early in each half and senior goalkeeper Audrey Eisemann (Worcester, Mass.) made it standup with her fifth shutout of the season as the visiting Cougars defeated WPI 3-0 in a NEWMAC women's soccer matchup on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Clark improves to 5-7-2 and boosts its conference record to 3-2-1. WPI is now 2-11-1 on the season and 0-5-1 in NEWMAC action.
Hana Chamoun (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) got Clark on the board in the 10th minute when she stole the ball from the defender and quickly fired in from the eighteen for her third marker of the season.
The Cougars struck quickly in the second stanza when Afra Danai (Amherst, Mass.) took a feed from Jennifer O'Rourke (Somerset, Mass.) and turned and placed a shot into top right net just 1:07 into the second half. The goal was the fourth of the year for Danai.
The visitors got a key insurance goal in the 80th minute when Emily Braun (Irvington, N.Y.) found Janelle Pasternack (North Brookfield, Mass.) with a tremendous through ball and the sophomore buried her second goal of the season in the bottom left corner.
Eisemann turned away four shots en route to picking up the victory in net. WPI goalkeeper Maddie Willer (Penfield, N.Y.) was credited with two saves, including a shot from point blank range just seconds after the second goal.
Clark enjoyed a 9-5 edge in shots on the day while both teams attempts two corner kicks. Hailey Taylor (Colusa, Calif.) led the hosts with two shots.
Both squads hit the road for key NEWMAC contests on Tuesday. WPI ventures to South Hadley to face Mount Holyoke at 4:30pm while Clark heads to regionally-ranked Springfield for a 7pm matchup with the Pride.
