Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Eastern Connecticut used 23 kills from Kristianna Ibsen (Shelton, Conn.) and 22 assists and 16 digs from Samantha Slonski (Griswold, Conn.) to notch their fourth straight win – this one a 3-1 (25-27, 25-17, 25-22, 25-16) victory over host Clark University in non-league women's volleyball action on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors improved to 4-1 on the season with the win, while the Cougars slip to 0-2.
After taking an early 8-4 lead in the first game, Clark found itself down 13-9 and then 24-23 and on the verge of dropping the opener when they rallied to record four of the next five points to take the game, 27-25.
ECSU took control early in game two and posted the 25-17 win, registering 18 kills in the frame.
Game three started out well for the Cougars as they raced out to a 6-1 lead behind a pair of solo blocks from Amira Tranchell (Falmouth, Mass.). The Warriors, however, eventually took a 15-11 lead then settled for a 25-22 win.
The fourth and final game was all Eastern Connecticut, as Isben recorded four of the team's 11 kills in the game.
