Kopec Earns NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Clark University field hockey senior Alison Kopec was named NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.

This marks Kopec's first NEWMAC weekly accolade and is the first Cougar to earn recognition this year.

"Alison had a great week for us and excited that she earned the award," said head coach Laura-Ann Lane. "She stepped up and hit the shots when we needed her to score, and is crushing it on the field with her awareness and stick skills. Well done Alison!"

Kopec (Redding, Conn.) led the scarlet and white this week with four goals and two assists as the Cougars posted a 2-0 record with wins over Gordon and UMass Dartmouth. The senior opened her week with a goal and an assist in a 5-0 victory against Gordon on Tuesday afternoon. Kopec recorded her first career hat trick and dished out an assist in a 7-0 win over UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. She netted all three goals in the first half, while also firing five total shots on goal.

Kopec leads the squad with five goals, three assists, and 13 points through five games. The scarlet and white (5-0) will be back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Simmons for a non-conference contest beginning at 5:00 p.m.
