With only one out on the board senior Josh Herlands (Glastonbury, Conn.) got ahold of his first pitch and sent a line drive into right field to load the bases. The Cougars got the final two outs without allowing a run score to carry the 0-0 score into the bottom of the second.

-In the bottom of the second, with one out and the bases loaded, junior Dylan Horn (Sterling, Conn.) sent a line drive into right field to score his classmate Nick Jordan (Seaford, N.Y.) and sophomore Steven Mooney (Buffalo, N.Y.) for the 2-0 lead. After making the second out, WPI allowed two runs to score on fielding errors to give the cougars a 4-0 lead heading into the third inning.

-WPI loaded the bases again in the top of the fourth inning, but senior pitcher Cal Slepkow (Rehoboth, Mass.) was able to get the final out with three straight strikes on the batter, leaving the three baserunners stranded.

-The Engineers put up their lone run of the game in the top of the ninth when Gallagher led off with a double to left field and sophomore Jordan DeDonato (Danvers, Mass.) singled to left to score him (4-1).

-Horn led the Cougars at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

-Junior Tyrone Patterson (Upper Marlboro, Md.) went 2-for-3 while Herlands finished 2-for-4 and DeDonato put up one RBI on his one hit for the Engineers.
