Left-handed pitcher Ty Sterner was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 23rd round of the 2014 MLB Draft. The Worcester, Mass. native was the 695th overall pick, becoming the 13th player drafted from The University of Rhode Island since 2003. Sterner – who moved to the weekend rotation after spending his first two years at URI in the bullpen – allowed three or fewer earned runs in seven of his 10 starts this season.
