Worcester, Mass. – Clark University matched a school record with 11 goals and the host Cougars rolled to an 11-0 win over visiting Wheelock College in non-league field hockey action on Tuesday evening.
The 11 goal outburst tied a record set by the 2007 team back on September 18 of that year against Regis in an 11-0 win and again just last season in an 11-3 win over Worcester-area rival Becker on September 8.
Also getting in on the scoring act were Isabelle Zoeckler (Madison, Conn.), Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) and Kelly Hart (Oak Park, Ill.). Zoeckler totaled a goal and two assists, Murphy posted two goals and an assist, while Hart dished out a pair of helpers.
The Cougars dominated the contest from start to finish, holding an incredible 38-0 edge in shots and an 11-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Zoe LaFrance-Armstrong (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) and Kaylin Mulrooney (Somerset, Mass.) each scored goals for the Scarlet and White as well, while Molly McPhee (Durham, N.H.) recorded her second career assist.
Wheelock netminder Michelle Greene (Mansfield, Mass.), who recently went over the 400 career save mark and had a 30 save performance against Eastern Connecticut earlier this year, made 24 stops for the Wildcats.
Clark, which has won four games in a row by a combined 20-2, improves to 7-3 on the season. Wheelock, meanwhile, drops to 0-8 on the year.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday. The Wildcats host Elms College at 12:00 p.m., while the Cougars entertain archrival Mount Holyoke at 1:00 p.m.
