Gilbert, Ariz.—Clark University field hockey senior captain, Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.) earned a spot on the 2018 Longstreth / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-New England East Region Second Team as announced by the association on Wednesday morning.
"I'm thrilled that for the second year in a row, Olivia was named an NFHCA All-Region player! It's well deserved for all her hard work and success this past season. It certainly caps off Olivia's career here at Clark in an exciting way!" said head field hockey coach Callie Lekas.
Barksdale finished the 2018 season with a career-best and team-leading 42 points from 19 goals and four assists. Her 19 goals tied her for fourth in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for goals on the season. Barksdale capped off her career with 123 points from a total of 51 goals and 21 assists. Her 123 career points gives her the 4th spot in Clark Field Hockey All-Time Career Points records and her 51 goals places her in 3rd for Career Goals at Clark.
Barksdale was also one of 60 athletes chosen to participate in the 2018 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III 2018 Senior Game on November 17th. Annually, the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game features top senior players in the nation — selected seniors are given the opportunity to represent their institution while competing against their peers.
Barsksdale was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team as a junior and a senior and this was her second year garnering NFHCA All-Region Second Team accolades.
