Despite a second half comeback attempt, the Clark University field hockey team dropped a home contest 6-3 to the Bison of Nichols College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Bison struck first, scoring two goals in the opening period. Four minutes in to play, Nichols' senior Erin Kelley (Dighton, Mass.) found the back of the net to put the Bison on the board (1-0). Just three minute later, Nichols put up their second goal when first-year Mackenzie Doran (Wolfeboro, N.H.) was able to slip one past Clark's sophomore keeper Grace Sawyer (Windham, Maine) (2-0).
-With seven minutes remaining in the second quarter, Nichols stretched their lead to 3-0 after Kelley capitalized on a penalty stroke, for her second goal of the evening (3-0).
-The Cougars got on the board first in the second half, after a pass from first year Abigail Cravinho (Bellow Falls, Vt.) set up junior Cheyanne Zappala (Laconia, N.H.) for a perfect chip past Nichols' junior goalie, Hannah Seigel (New Milford, Conn.) (3-1).
-13 minutes into the third quarter, Nichols struck again with a goal from junior Lizz McKinnon (Quincy, Mass.) (4-1). But two minute later, Clark was able to put another goal on the board after a finish from first year Kerry Lefebvere (Freeport, Maine.) (4-2).
-After two quick goals by Nichols, Clark was able to capitalize on another opportunity in the 50th minute when Cravinho was able to find the back of the net off a powerful pass from junior Chase Collier (Libson, Maine.) (6-3).

-Sawyer made eight saves on the day and falls to 1-2 on the season.
