- The Lead: The Cougars were able to top the AMCATS on the road 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Cougars got on top early needing only 5 minutes to score their first goal. Senior Mikayla Pantano (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was able to find the back of the net with an assist from junior Carden Maloney (Worcester, Mass.). This was Pantano's first goal of the season and was Maloney's first assist on the season.
-The Cougar's second goal was also in the first period coming in just after the 13th minute. Junior Cheyanne Zappala (Laconia, N.H.) was able to find the stick of sophomore Emma Boland (Redding, Conn.) who was able to find the back of the net. This was also Boland's first goal and Zappala's first assist on the season.
-The second two Cougar goals came in the third period. The first after the 31st minute when junior Carden Maloney (Worcester, Mass.) was able to slip one past the AMCAT goalie to score her unassisted goal.
-The final goal of the game was scored by freshman Kerry Lefebvre (Freeport, Maine) off an assist from sophomore Emma Boland (Redding, Conn.). This was Lefebvre's fourth goal of the season and Boland's second assist of the season. Boland had three points on the night.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-The Cougars outshot the AMCATS by a margin of 16-5 and kept them without any shots in the third period.
-Clark was awarded 10 penalty corners with 5 in the second period while Anna Maria was awarded 2 total.
- The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, September 17 when they host Elms College for a 7 PM start. The AMCATS will travel to Nichols on Thursday, September 12 for a 7 PM start.
