Score: Clark University 1, Bridgewater State 0
Records: Clark University 7-0-0, Bridgewater State 2-4-0
Location: Swanson Field, Bridgewater, Mass.
How It Happened:
The first half was scoreless even though the Scarlet and White had an excellent opportunity to take an early lead. In the tenth minute, Julian Feshbach-Meriney (Concord, Mass.) saw his header scream past Bear netminder Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.) but the ball kept travelling and smacked off the post keeping the contest a scoreless tie.
Clark finally broke through in the 61st minute when Evan Jurkowski (Ludlow, Mass.) dribbled past a defender and sent a shot past Morgado for the game's lone goal. For Jurkowski, it marks the second straight game in which he has recorded the game winning goal following his double overtime tally in Saturday's win at WPI.
News You Need:
The Cougars held a 15-11 edge in overall shots but it was the Bears who held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Alistair Richardson (Tolland, Conn.) got the start in between the pipes for Clark and made all three of his saves in the second half enroute to his second win of the season and his fourth career shutout.
The Cougars will face a stiff test on Saturday when they return home to face NEWMAC nemesis Coast Guard. First touch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
