Wheaton Swims Past Clark in NEWMAC Meet

Worcester, Mass.--The Clark University men's swimming and diving team hosted the Lyons of Wheaton College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Thursday afternoon at the Kneller Center Pool. The Cougars fell to the visiting Lyons by a final score of 152-68.

The Clark men's 400 yard Medley Relay that included juniors Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass.), Bill Holloman (Avon, Conn.), Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Johan Nel (Wayne, Maine), finished second in a time of 3:54.88.

Freshman Eric Cobert (Newton, Mass.) earned a second place finish in the 1000 yard Freestyle with an 11:04.86 finish. Ortega finished in third in the men's 200 yard IM before taking first place in the 14th event, the 200 yard Butterfly, as he touched the wall in a season best 2:08.89.

Senior Steven Castiglione (North Haven, Conn.) took first place in the men's 3 meter dive with a score of 230.15 and placed second in the 1 meter dive with a 224.70 score.

Clark is on the road Friday, January 12th as they head to Trinity College for a meet at 6:00 p.m.
