North Dartmouth, Mass. - The men's swimming and diving team came up short in a tough contest against Umass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon. The Corsairs beat the Cougars by a score of 189 to 94.
Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla) had a banner night for the Cougars winning the 50 Yard Fly with a time of 26.00. Ortega also came in second in the men's 200 Yard Free finishing only three seconds off the lead with a time of 1:50.88. Ortega had another close second place finish in the 100 Yard Free. He touched the wall only one second off the lead with a time of 51.67
Konstantin Drallios (Astoria, NY) got the win in the 200 Yard IM. He finished with a time of 2:09.59. Drallios also finished second in the 100 Yard Breast, teammate Nick Sakoff (New York, NY) came in a close third.
Eric Corbert (Newton, Mass) swam an impressive 1000 Yard Free, coming in second with a time of 10:47.66. Corbert also finished second in the 500 Yard Free with a time of 5:10.46. Will Russell (Cumberland, Maine) came in a close second in the 50 Yard Back. He touched the wall with a time of 29.23. Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass) finished with the silver in the 100 Yard Back. Russell finished in a close third. Rowan Moody (Ellington, Conn) took second in the 3 mtr dive with a final score of 209.05.
The Cougars will return to the pool on January 10th at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.
