Keene, N.H.--The Clark University men's cross country team claimed 4th place (127 points) at this year's Keene State Invitational. The host team had three individuals finish in the top six spots to help them claim the top spot at the meet. Also finishing ahead of the Cougars were Fitchburg State and Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon. Keene State's 34 points bested Fitchburg's 48 points and Colby-Sawyer's 53 points on the day.
Senior Captain Cameron Mitchell (Medford, MA) was the top finisher for Clark with a time of 30:27.7 (20th) as his teammate Cameron Keenan (South Glastonbury, CT) posted a time of 30:56.1 to finish just behind Mitchell in 23rd place. The third best Cougar time was completed by Freshman Ryan Ewanyk (East Northport, NY) at 31:06.6 for 26th place overall.
Fitchburg State's Jacob Movsessian finsihed with the top overall time Saturday, running at a pace of 26:35.9 to lead the Falcons to second place. First place team Keene State's Iid Shiekh-Yusuf ran a great time, but was just behind Movsessian with an ending time of 27:13.1. Colby-Sawyer's Peter Bakker slightly trailed Shiekh-Yusuf's time and completed the course at 27:27.8 for the third place Chargers. For firth place Southern Vermont, their top runner Saturday was Caldwell Holden who finished 15th overall and had a course time of 29:16.1. MCLA and NHTI also ran in the invitational, compiling team scores that led them to sixth and seventh place team finishes respectively.
Up next for Clark is a meet in Westfield, MA at 10:30AM at Stanley Park. The James Earley Invitational takes place Saturday, Oct. 6th.
