MXC: Cougars Finish 15th at Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H. – The Clark University cross country teams competed at the Keene State College Invitational on Saturday, with the men logging a 15th place finish in a field of 19 teams while the women's squad finished 17th at the event. 

How it Happened:

Individually for the men, sophomore Ryan Ewanyk (East Northport, N.Y.) paced the Cougars on the men's side for the day with a time of 29.21.6 enough for a 92nd amongst the 193 runners competing. Cameron Keenan (South Glastonbury, Conn.) was not far behind his teammate as the sophomore tripped the timer with a mark of 30:04.6 for a 116th place finish.

Liam Stewart (New York, N.Y.), Isaiah Chamberlain (Castleton, VT.) and Bobby Sharma (Kobe, Hyogo) were bunched together during the race as the Clark trio finished in 126th, 128th and 133rd for the event. Stewart paced his teammates with his time of 30:27.5 while Chamberlain and Sharma finished in 30:36.4 and 30:54.6 respectively.

On the women's side of the event, senior Nicolina Braccio (Nashua, N.H.) had the best time of all Cougars competing on the day as the captain crossed the finish line of 5k with a time of 20:59.3 which put her in 90th place individually out of 185 spots.

First-year Alexis Stone (Holden, Mass.) and junior Meghan Davinroy (Louisville, CO.) kept pace with another throughout the day as the duo finished 119th and 120th respectively with times of 21:47.8 and 21:49.7. Kathryn Rivard-Lentz (East Hampton, CT.) was not far behind either as the sophomore came in 129th with a mark of 22:07.9.

Kathryn Jeffreys (Cincinnati, Ohio), Selena Murphy (Weymouth, Mass.), and Emma Pulizzi (Bedford, Mass.) raced closely with one another throughout the event as the trio finished in 165th, 169th, and 170th with not much time separating them. Jeffrey's led the pack at 24:21.7 while Murphy and Pulizzi were neck-and-neck with respective times of 25:15.6 and 25:15.7.

The meet Saturday triggers the busy part of the cross country schedule as the teams will compete the next two weekends, continuing October 12th at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State with the women's race starting at 10:30 am before the men's race begins at 12:00 pm.
