-The Lead: The Clark University women's soccer team dropped to the Blue of Wellesley College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action by a 1-0 margin on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Hannah Knoll (Boise, Idaho) scored her first goal of the season and classmate Olivia Reckley (Grosse Ile, Mich.) made seven saves to lift Wellesley College to victory at the Wellesley Fields Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-With 24 minutes on the clock in the second half Knoll collected a cross at the top of the penalty area from senior Kelly Hoover (Austin, Texas), turned and fired the ball past Clark goalkeeper Julianna Christy (Plainville, Conn.) to give Wellesley the 1-0 lead. That was the only tally they would need as they clinched the 1-0 conference victory.
-Clark held a 6-1 edge in shots and a 4-0 lead in shots on goal in the opening half, but Reckley turned back all four Clark attempts to keep the game scoreless at halftime. Clark continued to control possession after the break until Knoll broke through for the Blue in the 67th minute.
-Reckley made three more saves in the second half, include one in the game's final five minutes to help the Blue hold on for the win.
