Worcester, Mass. – The Clark University women's swimming and diving team concluded a weekend long stay on Sunday evening at the Gompei Invitational hosted by WPI, taking tenth place overall combining with the men's program for 293 points.
While the field was made up of teams from Division I, II and III including several other teams from the NEWMAC, Clark had several individuals perform well.
Karina Urquhart (Sanford, Maine) found herself in the "B" Final of one of her signature events – the 400-yard IM. She ended up churning out tenth place finish with a time of 4:58.71. Joining her in the 400-yard IM finals was Jenna Harrison-Peters (Chevy Chase, Md.), who was tenth in the "C" Finals (5:22.58).
Freshman Sasha Kumar (Canyon City, Calif.) and Niki Lew (Auburndale, Mass.) both advanced to the "C" Final of the 100-yard IM with Kumar touching the wall in fourth place (1:06.43) and Lew right on her heels in sixth (1:07.09).
Meanwhile, Melissa Orzechowski (Windsor, Conn.) posted a tenth place finish in the 1,650 in a time of 18:24.73.
Clark will return to action on Saturday when they welcome Trinity for their first home meet of the year.
