Worcester, Mass.—The Clark University women's and men's swimming and diving team along with head coach, Paul E. Phillips is pleased to announce seniors Amelia Muratori (Southbury, Conn.) and Quinn Mitchell (West Hartford, Conn.) as the 2018-2019 women's team captains and Senior Noah Liscord (Wayne, Maine) as the men's team captain.
"All of our seniors and captains have been very dedicated to the team and enthusiastically supportive of their teammates over the course of their careers. Each of our captains brings their own unique leadership style. Their contributions will be vital in terms of bringing the team together throughout the year as we work towards achieving our individual and collective goals at the pool and in the community. I am excited to continue working with them," said Phillips.
When asked what it means to them to be a captain and to lead their teams, and what they look forward to this season here is what they had to say:
"This year as a captain I am really looking forward to motivating and helping our team continue to improve from last season. We had a great ending to our season last year, and so I am excited to build upon that and have another great season. To me being a captain is all about uniting the team, and doing my best to encourage everyone to work together to create the best team possible, both in and out of the pool. I hope to help give each of my teammates' the same great experience that I have had as a member of the swim team, and to leave the team stronger and closer than ever," said Mitchell.
"For me, being a captain means helping my teammates feel comfortable and achieve their goals for the season. I hope to help motivate the team and create a close-knit, communicative environment in which we can all positively contribute to each other's experience. We have a really quirky, spirited team this year and I look forward to seeing this family reach its potential and swim some personal bests!" said Muratori.
"I feel honored to serve as captain this year. Our senior class is a tight knit group that I feel very fortunate to be a part of. We have a lot of loyalty and respect for each other and we want to channel this into the pool as we lead the rest of the team this year. I look forward to working together towards achieving our goals individually and collectively both in and out of the pool. Lastly, I would like the entire men's team to know how truly humbled I am to have been chosen as their representative. I am really excited to support them and help them achieve their goals," said Liscord.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams open up their 2018-2019 home schedule on Saturday, November 17th when they host New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent, Babson College at 10:00 a.m.
