WELLESLEY, Mass. – Clark University women's swimming and diving were defeated by Babson College in the pool as the Beavers took a 117-83 final in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) dual meet on Saturday.
How it Happened
Junior Allison Dubick (Cornwall, N.Y.) continued her recent momentum as she earned the lone event victory of the meet for the team, swimming to a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with her time of 5:37.22.
The Cougars went one and two in the 200-yard breaststroke as graduate Mira Siewert (Worcester, Mass.) cruised to a first-place finish, tripping the timer at 2:43.39. Sophomore Sydney Macedo (Kennebunk, Maine) trailed her teammate, picking up a second-place mark with her time of 2:57.53.
Clark posted a pair of second-place finishes as first-year Jenny Lee (Honolulu, Hawaii) clocked in with her time of 2:42.88 in the 200-yard butterfly while first-year Charlotte Bedford (Etna, N.H.) swam to a second-place mark of 2:14.05 in the 200-yard freestyle.
In the relays, the team of Elizabeth Cownie (Concord, Mass.), Rachel Helisch (Norwalk, Conn.), McLeod and Dubick carted home a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with their cumulative time of 1:49.27.
On the diving board, the Cougars went one and two at the one-meter height with sophomore Anna Gilmartin (East Quogue, N.Y) finishing first with 162.15 points. First-year Jenny Lee (Honolulu, Hawaii) made her debut in diving, posting 143.25 points to finish second. At three-meters, Gilmartin earned her second event victory of the day, collecting 183.45 points to win uncontested.
The Cougars return home for the next matchup as they entertain UMass Dartmouth in a non-conference dual meet on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 pm.
