The Lead: The Clark University women's tennis team fell to the wildcats of Johnson & Wales University on the road on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats breezed through doubles then swept singles for the 9-0 victory at Centre Court.


JWU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles points. Nina Cohen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Delaney Macchirole (Greenport, NY) didn't drop a game as they prevailed 8-0 at number one. Ashley Hartford (Howell, Mich.) and Victoria Pizzulo (Lafayette, NJ) were next with an 8-4 victory at number three then Holly Olson (Mukwonago, Wisc.) and Madison Hernandez (Phoenix, Ariz.) completed the sweep with an 8-4 decision at number two.

The first two doubles players off the court were also the first two singles players to finish. Macchirole posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Elizabeth Tchantouridze (Northfield, Vt.) at number four. Cohen wrapped up the team victory with her 6-2, 6-2 triumph at number one.

Up next for the Wildcats is their Big Game as they host Springfield on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The game will be played at Providence College with giveaways to all fans in attendance.
