"Maggie and Anna both have proven themselves to me on the court as players and also began to establish themselves as leaders last year. Even after one practice they conveyed to the team more expectations for the year. I know they will be great leaders," said Herbst.
When asked what being a captain means to them and what they are looking forward to this season, here is what Tarbox and Gates had to say:
"Good teams are often built around togetherness. Captains should be the glue to keep teams united. As a captain of the Women's Tennis Team, I hope I can have some impact on keeping our team feeling connected, feeling supported, and standing shoulder to shoulder. I'm looking forward to keeping the Women's Tennis program moving in a positive direction; a direction that attracts committed and enthusiastic women. I'm proud to represent Clark University alongside such outstanding student-athletes across all of our sports teams," said Tarbox.
"I'm really excited for our fall season to begin, and to be welcoming a first year onto the team! We will be playing some of our most competitive matches this fall, so I am looking forward to refining both our individual and doubles games and improving our team's winning record. I'm thrilled and honored to be a captain with Maggie on the tennis team this year!" said Gates.
The women's tennis team opens up their 2018-2019 schedule on Saturday, September 8th as they travel to Simmons College for a 12:00 p.m. match. Their home opener is scheduled for Monday, September 24th when they host Bridgewater State at 4:00 p.m.
