The Clark Women's Tennis team was defeated by the Wellesley College Blue this afternoon, 9-0. Wellesley is on a four game winning streak after today's results and the Cougars are fighting to end their now four game losing skid. Clark has five NEWMAC matches left on the schedule with hopes to get back to their winning ways soon.
-Sophomore Cougar Jillian Skulsky (Marshfield, MA) was defeated in straight sets in the No. 1 singles match.
-Captain Anna Gates (North Scituate, RI) was taken down by her opponent, Selina Peng in three sets. Gates took the first set 6-2, but lost the last two sets. The third set super tie breaker finished in Peng's favor, 10-8.
-Clark's Elizabeth Garfield (Cape Elizabeth, ME) was defeated in two sets by her No. 3 opponent today.
-Wellesley took the No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-2. Competing for Clark was Elizabeth Tchantouridze (Northfield, VT).
-Captain Maggie Tarbox (Lebanon, CT) was bested by Michelle Buyer in the No. 5 position. Buyer won the match 6-2, 6-1.
-Lily Meadows (Bradenton, FL) was Clark's No. 6 singles player today, but she fell short in her efforts.
-Skulsky and Tarbox represented Clark in the No. 1 doubles match, but could not come out on top. Chang and Peng won the match 8-3.
-Clark duo Gates and Tchantouridze fell to their No. 2 opponents this afternoon. Wellesley's doubles pair won 8-3.
-Clark's next match takes place on this coming Saturday, April 6th. MIT comes to Worcester for a 2:30PM start time against the Cougars.
-Wellesley travels to Brandeis for a 3:00PM match this coming Friday, April 5th.
