Clark Loses Hard-Fought NEWMAC Match At Smith

The Clark Women's Tennis team fell to Smith College in a closely contested match, 5-4. Two of the three doubles matches going to Smith helped propel them to victory. Clark falls to 2-10 on the season with four games left within the next two weeks. Smith's record now stands at 1-9.



-No. 1 singles went to Smith's Allison Ahern. Clark's Jillian Skulsky (Marshfield, MA) lost in two sets, 6-2 and 6-3.

-Captain Anna Gates (North Scituate, RI) fell in a three set battle. Smith's No. 2 won 6-2, 0-6, 6-0.

-The Cougars took the No. 3 match today. Elizabeth Garfield (Cape Elizabeth, ME) defeated her opponent 6-1 and 6-3.

-Elizabeth Tchantouridze (Northfield, VT) won her No. 4 match in straight sets. She won the first set 6-2 and second set in a tiebreaker, 7-5.

-No. 5 singles went to Clark as well. Maggie Tarbox (Lebanon, CT) took down her counterpart in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0.

-Smith's No. 6 single won the point for them in today's match. Lily Meadows (Bradenton, FL) fell in straight sets.



-Tarbox and Skulsky could not get the win today, losing in a tight one to Smith's duo 8 to 5.

-Gates and Garfield were victorious for Clark in the No. 2 doubles match, 8-2.

-Smith's No. 3 pair won their match-up with Clark's Chloe Dunnell (Montclair, NJ) and Kathryn Benson (Hudson, MA). That match's final was 8 to 2.


Up Next:-Clark travels to Babson College this coming Saturday, April 13th. The conference match-up starts at 1:30PM.

-Smith's next match is another home one. MIT visits them on April 13th for a 12:00PM start.
