SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team fell to Springfield College in straight-sets Tuesday night as the Pride earned set victories of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-15 to earn a hard-fought 3-0 victory in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) battle at Blake Arena.

Records: Clark University (4-10, 0-3 NEWMAC) | Springfield College (10-4, 1-2 NEWMAC)
How it Happened
Clark University showed plenty of fight in the opening set as Claudia Rivera (Guaynabo, PR) finished off a three-point streak for the Cougars to knot the score at eight apiece. While trailing 21-16 the Cougars put together another run of three when Bailey Vogel (Salt Lake City, UT.) delivered back-to-back service aces. But, Springfield College was able to put the opening set away as four different players – Camryn Bancroft, Bridget Walsh, Ashley Tanner, and Demi Spanos – generated kills to give the Pride the 1-0 match lead.
The Pride carried that momentum into the second set as they used two separate runs of four-points to establish control. Still, the Cougars stood close behind as Rivera continued to lead the way in the second set, picking up seven of her match-high 11 kills in that time. Springfield College held on to a 25-20 set score following a Cougars' attack error.
Cameron Gill (Shrewsbury, Mass.) highlighted the third set for the Cougars as the first-year delivered six of her ten kills. But Springfield College pushed on the throttle and hit its stride in the closing effort, producing 18 kills as a team to stampede to a 25-15 set score to seal the match sweep.
Clark University will host NEWMAC foe Wheaton College and Connecticut College this Saturday, September 28th at the Kneller Athletic Center with 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. respective match times.
