Men's Tennis Edged by Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Clark University men's tennis team (1-3) competed in their fourth road match of the season when they traveled to Nichols (1-0) and were edged 4-3 by the Bison on Tuesday afternoon from the Robinson Tennis Courts.

How it Happened
Doubles: Nichols 2, Clark 1
  • Sophomore Edward Shepherd-Johnson and first-year Aris Kirkorian registered the Cougars lone win in doubles with a 6-3 victory over Zeis and Hernandez in number one play.
  • Senior Ryan Hovey and graduate student Tanner Honnef won a pair of games in their number three doubles loss to Nunez and Matos in a 2-6 defeat,
  • In number two doubles, first-year Ziad Tabbara and sophomore Drew Morris won a game in a 1-6 loss to Dieckmann and Hartmann.
Singles: Clark 3, Nichols 3
  • Kirkorian got the Cougars on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win in number two singles over Hernandez.
  • Shepherd-Johnson earned Clark's second victory of the day in number one action by a 6-3, 6-4 margin against Zeis.
  • In number four singles, Morris dropped the first set 3-6, but rallied to collect a 7-5, 10-3 win across the final two sets against Matos.
  • Junior Graham Russo also took his match three sets in number six play after taking the first set 6-1 before falling 1-6, 3-6 in the deciding sets to Junyent.
  • Tabbara won four games in the first set and one in the second set as Subasi came away with a 6-4, 6-1 win in number three action.
  • In number five singles, Hovey won a combined three games as he dropped his match 1-6, 2-6 to Gonzalez.
What's Next
Clark will be back in action on Friday, October 18 when they open NEWMAC play against Babson beginning at 4:00 p.m. from the Corash Tennis Courts.
