Softball Drops Season Finale to MIT

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (6-30, 1-19 NEWMAC) hosted MIT (24-12, 14-6 NEWMAC) in their final two home games of the season and dropped both games to the Engineers on Saturday afternoon from O'Brien Field.

Game One: MIT 7, Clark 1
  • First-year Megan Dube retired the side in order in the first inning and in the bottom half, senior Samantha Crowley singled to right field before the Engineers got out of the inning.
  • Dube got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the second and in the bottom of the inning, first-year Charlise Quigley and Dube each reached base, but were left on.
  • MIT scored four runs in the top of the third and in the bottom of the fourth, sophomore Felicia Salvati homered to left field as Clark trailed 4-1.
  • After a scoreless inning from Dube, sophomore Alyssa Briggs and Crowley each singled in the bottom of the fifth before MIT added two more runs in the top of the sixth.
  • MIT added another run in the seventh and in the bottom of the seventh, sophomore Keira Langus and sophomore Madison Dillon each reached base.
Game Two: MIT 6, Clark 1
  • MIT opened game two with a run in the first before sophomore Brooke Buzzeo tossed a scoreless second inning.
  • In the third inning, the Engineers scored three runs and in the bottom of the third, sophomore Erin Slavin belted a double to left center with one out, but was left on base.
  • MIT added two runs in the top of the fifth and after a scoreless inning pitched by Langus, Crowley walked before the Engineers got out of the inning.
  • Clark scored a run in the bottom of the seventh when Salvati came around to score on a wild pitch as the Cougars fell 6-1.
