THIS WEEK IN CLARK ATHLETICS
Oct. 6 – Oct. 12
Men's Soccer
When: Monday, October 6 at Roger Williams at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8 at Salem State at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11 vs. WPI at 1:00 p.m.
What: The Cougars (3-5-1, 0-2-1 NEWMAC) is slated to play three games this week, opening with a match against Roger Williams that was suspended halfway through, then at Salem State, before hosting WPI. Clark is led by junior Carter Benoff who has scored a goal and dished out a pair of assists. First-year Shahmeer Waseem has added two goals. Senior Ben Siegel has tallied a goal and an assist. In net, senior Diego Marin has logged 26 saves, three shutouts, and a GAA of 1.29. Roger Williams (7-0-4) is leading Clark 1-0 at the half as Tyler Jastrab scored off a feed from Dylan Robbins. Jastrab leads the team with four goals, while Robbins has dished out two assists this year. Salem State (5-3-3) is led by Iago De Sousa-Vieira who has netted six goals. Stephane Fevry has added four goals and an assist. In goal, Marcelo Silva (27) and Brady Whitmarsh (23) lead the Vikings in saves. WPI (3-3-4, 0-1-1 NEWMAC) has drawn with MIT and lost to Coast Guard to begin league play. They are led by Mike Montabana who has scored two goals and dished out an assist. Adin Pezo has added a pair of goals. Fabio Bastida-Andreu and Nikolas Previte each have registered a goal and an assist. Floris Huiskers has stopped 23 shots.
 
Field Hockey
When: Tuesday, October 7 at Salve Regina at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11 vs. Wheaton at 2:00 p.m.  
What: The scarlet and white (8-3, 0-3 NEWMAC) are scheduled to travel to Salve Regina on Tuesday before hosting their senior day game against Wheaton. Senior Alison Kopec leads the squad with seven assists and 19 points, while scoring six goals. Fellow senior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia, senior Jenna Beauchain, and first-year Olivia Bass are tied for the team lead with seven goals each. Senior Morgan Brown and first-year Sedona Lee have registered six and five goals respectively. Junior Rachel Reiter (44) and senior Loren Root (30) lead the Cougars in saves. Salve Regina (8-2, 1-2 NEWMAC) have suffered setbacks against Springfield and Wellesley, while topping Smith. Julia Decker has scored a team-high 14 goals, while adding four assists. Georgia Costello (8) and Elliot Lund (6) are second and third on the squad in goals. Siany Ortez has added 37 saves and posted three shutouts. Wheaton (5-5, 2-2 NEWMAC) has knocked off Wellesley and Mount Holyoke, while falling to Smith and WPI in conference action. They are led by Hannah Fortin who has scored five goals and dished out a pair of assists. Kayla Wilonski (4) and Riley Levrault/Ava Audette (3) have also tallied three or more goals. Grace Ferguson has stopped 48 shots and has earned three shutouts.
 
Volleyball
When: Tuesday, October 7 at Mount Holyoke at 7:00 p.m.
What: The scarlet and white (1-12, 0-4 NEWMAC) are slated to compete in an away NEWMAC fixture against Mount Holyoke this week. Clark is led by sophomore Isabella Alcott who has registered 113 kills and added 64 digs. Junior Harper Chinn ranks second on the squad in kills (75) and digs (95). Junior Katelyn Williams has recorded 48 kills and six service aces. Junior Julia Dopazo (153) and sophomore Hannah Harrington (103) lead the squad in assists. Senior Yumeng Liu has posted a team-high 119 digs. Sophomore Abigail Venis (24) and junior Winifred Gakidis (18) lead the squad in blocks. Mount Holyoke (9-7, 1-3 NEWMAC) has fell to Emerson, WPI, and MIT and topped Salve Regina so far this season. Madeline Barton (227) and Elle Rimando (194) lead the Lyons in kills. Sadie Duffrin has dished out 435 assists. Kyra Staples (199) and Amelia Ringor (150) are the team leaders in digs.
 
Women's Soccer
When: Wednesday, October 8 at Babson at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11 at Smith at 12:00 p.m.
What: The Cougars (4-2-4, 0-1-2 NEWMAC) is set to compete in a pair of conference road fixtures, opening at Babson and concluding at Smith. Clark has opened conference play with draws against WPI and Emerson and a loss to Wheaton. Sophomore Georgia Louis leads the squad with five goals and has dished out six assists. Fellow sophomore Solimar Rivera has added five goals and three assists. First-year Calabria Augustino and senior Emma Shaughnessy have each tallied eight points. Junior Gabrielle Huryn leads the squad with 12 saves, while fellow junior Ava Lepro has posted a GAA of 0.71 as the Cougars have combined for five shutouts this season. Babson (4-1-4, 3-0-0 NEWMAC) has begun conference play with wins over Springfield, Coast Guard, and WPI. Josie Lee has netted a team-leading three goals and dished out a pair of assists. Izzy Lee has scored a pair of goals and Autumn Simon has dished out two assists. Callahan Cottone leads the team with 24 saves and a GAA of 0.55. Smith (1-7-1, 0-3-0 NEWMAC) has dropped NEWMAC fixtures against MIT, Springfield, and Wellesley. Kaleigh Quinn has scored a team-high six goals. Jenna Marsh has added four goals and two assists. Sky Smith has recorded 65 saves and owns a GAA of 1.96.
 
Men's Tennis
When: Thursday, October 9 vs. Nichols at 3:30 p.m.    
What: Men's tennis (5-0) has opened the 2025 portion of their schedule with victories over UMass Boston, Roger Williams, Gordon, Colby-Sawyer, and Nichols. In the victory over RIC, seniors Edward Shepherd-Johnson and Graham Russo (No. 1) and junior Aris Kirkorian and sophomore Ziad Tabbara (No. 2), and first-year Benjamin Liu and senior Sai Chanda (No. 3) all tallied doubles wins. In singles, Shepherd-Johnson (No. 1), Kirkorian (No, 2), Russo (No. 3), first-year Benjamin Liu (No. 4), first-year Ved Rao (No. 5), and first-year Petru Cojocaru (No. 6) all tallied victories. Shepherd-Johnson, Tabbara, and Liu have won all of their singles matches so far this season. Nichols (1-0) opened the year with a 7-0 win at Salve Regina led by William Albrikes and Nikolas Bertrams who tallied a 6-4 win in number one doubles. They both also tallied singles victories in number one and two action.
 
Cross Country
When: Women's Cross Country: Friday, October 10 at Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at 3:45 p.m., Men's Cross Country: Friday, October 10 at Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at 4:30 p.m.  
What: The Cougars will compete at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds on Friday afternoon as they host their breast cancer awareness meet. In their most recent meet at UMass Dartmouth, junior Nicole Steele finished first on the squad with a time of 24:41.91. Senior Siobhan Connolly posted a time of 25:15.95 and junior Mary Elena Morales (26:20.56) placed second and third on the team. On the men's side, sophomore Summit Smoker led the Cougars with a time of 26:23.67. Junior Robert Burton (27:47.94) and first-year William Stone (27:56.47) finished second and third on the squad.
