Softball Ends Season With Losses at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (15-23, 5-15 NEWMAC) closed out the 2025 season with a road doubleheader at MIT (24-9, 15-3 NEWMAC) and were bested by the Engineers on Thursday afternoon from Briggs Field.

Game One: MIT 11, Clark 3
  • Sophomore Charlise Quigley and graduate student Rebecca Mauro each reached base in the first inning and in the bottom of the inning MIT scored four runs.
  • In the second inning, sophomore Alexis Taudel and junior Madison Dillon got on before junior Brooke Buzzeo pitched a scoreless second for the Cougars.
  • After another scoreless inning, Clark plated three runs in the top of the fourth as first-year Avery Dillon, Mauro, and sophomore Megan Dube all tallied RBI's to make it a 4-3 game.
  • The Engineers plated four runs in the fourth and in the top of the fifth, Madison Dillon and first-year Gricelda Castro drew walks, but were left on base before MIT got out of the inning.
  • MIT scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to earn an 11-3 victory.
Game Two: MIT 9, Clark 0
  • Avery Dillon doubled to open game two and reached third off a ball hit by Mauro before the Engineers got out of the inning.
  • MIT scored a run in the first and two in the second to take a 3-0 lead before plating four in the third.
  • After Mauro singled in the fourth, Sophomore Megan Dube threw a scoreless fourth as the Engineers and in the fifth the Engineers plated two more runs to come away with a 9-0 win.
  • Mauro closes out her Cougar career with 144 career hits, 34 doubles, 84 RBI's, and a .368 batting average. She ranks eighth all-time in hits, tied for fifth in doubles, and eighth all-time in RBI's.
