Worcester, Mass. - Behind a 14-kill, 15-dig
performance from junior Nina Milovanovic (Belgrade, Serbia),
visiting Babson College spoiled Senior Day for Clark University
with a 3-0 win over the Cougars in New England Women's and Men's
Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) volleyball action on Saturday
afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.
The Beavers took a closely-contested game one 25-21 and then rolled
to victory in game two, hitting .522 en route to a 25-11 win. Game
three was not much different as the visitors wrapped up the match
with a 25-18 win in the final game.
In addition to Milovanovic, Babson got standout performances from
freshman setter Kathleen Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) (39 assists), and
sophomore Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) (14 kills, eight digs).
For the Cougars, senior Emily
Visone (West Hempstead, N.Y.) wrapped up her home
career with 24 digs, while the three-headed monster of Amira
Tranchell (Falmouth, Mass.), Kristin
McGinty (Vail, Colo.) and ToniMarie
Illuzzi (Manorville, N.Y.) combined for 22 of Clark's
29 kills.
Both teams have qualified for the 2009 NEWMAC Tournament. Babson
(13-14), will be seeded fifth and will travel to Coast Guard, while
the eighth-seeded Cougars (8-16) head to MIT. Both matches are
slated for Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m.
