Bridgewater, Mass. - Behind a double-double
from senior Jillian Camilleri (Lancaster, Mass.),
Clark University picked up its first win of the season with a 66-51
decision over Eastern Nazarene in the consolation game of the
D'Angelo Tip Off Classic hosted by Bridgewater State College.
Camilleri finished with a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds for
her 16th career double-double and was named to the all-tournament
team. The Cougars led for a majority of game but ended all hopes of
a Lion victory with a 17-3 burst late in the second half.
Clark shot 40 percent from the floor and held Eastern Nazarene to
just 28 percent, including a frigid 7-for-39 in the second half.
While Camilleri was the only Cougar in double figures, the Scarlet
and White got a strong performance from freshman Kelsey Giedymin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who just missed her first
career double-double with nine points and a career-high 10
rebounds.
Alexis Molloy (11 points, 15 rebounds) was the Lions' top performer
despite shooting just 3-for-11 and committing eight turnovers.
Clark (1-2) returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to face
perennial MASCAC power Salem State.
