Leicester, Mass. - The Clark University field
hockey team got two second half goals to top Anna Maria College 2-0
at AMCATS Field on Tuesday night. The Cougars evened their record
to 3-3 with the win, while the AMCATS dropped to 1-7 with the
loss.
The Cougars controlled the action for much of the first half,
outshooting the AMCATS 8-2 with a 9-0 advantage in corners. Still,
Clark was unable to get anything past AMC goaltender Allyssa Boykin
(Worcester, Mass.) who made seven saves in the first half alone,
and 13 total on the day.
Clark continued to apply the pressure in the second half and
finally broke through when freshman Mel Melkonian
(Worcester, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal in the 47th
minute.
Just over six minutes later the Cougars were back at it again, as
senior Chelsea
Proulx (Franklin, N.H.) took a short feed from
sophomore Meghan
Lennon (Charlton, Mass.) in front of the net and
scored the second goal of the game.
Clark held on for the 2-0 victory while outshooting the AMCATS 17-4
with a 16-0 edge in corners.
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to face
WPI on the road at 1:00 p.m.
