Box Score 2 Westfield, Mass. – The Westfield
State University women's volleyball team swept Clark
University, 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) and Rhode Island College, 3-0
(25-16, 26-24, 25-20) in a home tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 2.
In the other match, RIC rallied for a 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-21,
25-23) victory over Clark.
Senior Rachel Ryan led Westfield vs. Clark with 14 kills and
eight digs. Kerin DeGirolamo had 39 assists, three aces and two
blocks and Alex Shaw totaled 11 kills and two blocks. Also playing
well for Westfield were: Kayleigh Shea (13 digs), Alyssa Stankowski
(10 digs, 1 ace), and Brittany Dussault (10 digs, 2 aces).
Maritza Fair led Clark with 13 kills and nine digs and Rachel Spera recorded 29 assists. Kortney Kelley had 10 digs and Kristin McGinty added six kills.
In Westfield's win over RIC, the Owls were led by Ryan (13
kills, 9 digs), Shaw (9 kills, 2 blocks), Julia Warner (10 kills),
DeGirolamo (36 assists, 2 aces), and Stankowski (19 digs, 2
aces).
Leading RIC to its come-from-behind victory over Clark were
Breanna Boyer with 17 kills, eight digs and two aces and Jessica Ho
with 43 assists. Amanda Cabral (15 kils, 5 digs), Kalyn Archer (11
kills, 6 blocks), and Tess Heidel (9 kills, 5 blocks) also played
well for RIC.
Clark was led by Katie Byrnes (10 kills),
Amira Tranchell (9 kills, 2 aces), Kortney Kelley
(21 digs), Kristin McGinty (6 blocks, 2 aces), and
Rachel Spera (37 assists, 2 aces).
