Box Score

Worcester, Mass. – Host Clark extended its season-best winning streak to four games with a 3-1 win over visiting Smith College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's volleyball action at the Kneller Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.

With the win the Cougars secure themselves of a spot in the upcoming conference tournament slated to begin next Tuesday. Clark now sits at 12-10 overall and 4-4 in league play, while the Pioneers slip to 3-19 and 1-7 in conference action.

Senior Maritza Fair (The Bronx, N.Y.), who along with classmate Emily Corbett (Rose Valley, Pa.), were honored before the game, paced the Cougar attack with 13 kills and 17 digs, while junior Kristin McGinty (Vail, Colo.) added 11 kills and three blocks. Amira Tranchell (Falmouth, Mass.) added 13 kills for the victors, who still have two matches left to play before postseason play begins.

Clark took game one 25-20 before the Pioneers answered back with a 25-20 win in game two. The Cougars then ran off the next two games to collect the win, claiming games 25-16 and 25-20.

The 12 wins for the Scarlet and White are the most wins in a season for Clark since the 2006 season and their four-game win streak is the longest since 2008.

Smith was led by Laurel Belton (San Bernadino, Calif.) and her 12 kills and the 10 kills from Rosa Drummond (Rye, N.H.). Bethany Ashworth (Monument, Mass.) finished with a match-high 19 digs for the Pioneers.

Clark will return to the floor on Thursday when they visit Becker College, while Smith will get right back into the fray on Wednesday with a home contest against Amherst.
