Box Score Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Connecticut
College snapped a brief two-match slide with a 3-0 win over Clark
University in non-conference volleyball action on Thursday evening
at the Kneller Athletic Center.
With the win the Camels improve to 10-5 on the season, while the
Cougars slip to 5-9.
Connecticut College jumped out to a 14-10 lead in game one and
eventually took the game 25-19.
The second game was neck and neck early on until, with the game
tied at 7-7, the Camels ran off six of the next seven points to
gain some breathing room before jumping out to a 2-0 lead with a
25-21 win.
Game three saw Clark stay close for a great deal of the time
before the visitors took a 25-17 decision.
The Camels were paced offensively by senior Jessie Lasher
(Plymouth, Minn.) who collected a match-high nine kills while
sophomore Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) added eight of her
own.
Senior Katie Shragge (San Diego, Calif.) tallied eight blocks
for Connecticut College, while sophomore Carly Guiducci (Del Mar,
Calif.) added nine digs and Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.) handed
out a match-best 30 assists.
Kristin McGinty (Vail, Colo.) led the Clark
attack with five kills and freshman Rachel Spera
(North Hollywood, Calif.) chipped in with 17 helpers.
Defensively, the Cougars got solid performances from junior
Kortney Kelley (Barnstable, Mass.) who had a
season-high 21 digs, and classmate Nichole Lopez
(Alameda, Calif.) who registered 12 digs.
Clark is off until Tuesday when they return to NEWMAC play with
a visit to Wheaton College, while the Camels host a pair of NESCAC
matches over the weekend beginning with Wesleyan on Saturday.
