Box Score Northampton, Mass. – Visiting Clark
scored a goal in each half and the defense shined, holding Smith to
just two shots as the Cougars snapped a three game slide with a 2-0
win over the Pioneers in New England Women's and Men's Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Friday.
The win for Clark moves the Cougars to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in
league action, while Smith slips to 1-8-1 and 0-4-1 in conference
play.
Clark scored its first goal in the 13th minute when freshman
Jenna
Zarou (Garden City, N.Y.) banged home an unassisted
tally for her first career goal.
The Cougars' defense allowed one shot in each half – both
of which were turned aside by netminder Joanna
Clark (Windham, Maine). The shutout for Clark was her
fourth of the season and the 24th of her career.
Clark put the contest away in the 75th minute when freshman
Lucia
Pantuosco (Somers, Conn.) set up Erin
Peete (Clinton, Mass.) for her team-leading fourth
score of the season.
The Cougars will now play three of their final games at home,
beginning with Tuesday's 6:g00 p.m. start against
Brandeis.
