Box Score Wellesley, Mass. – Defending champion Wellesley got a double-double from Isabel Custodio and a match-high 11 kills from Elizabeth Campbell en route to a 3-0 win over Clark in the quarterfinal round of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) volleyball tournament on Tuesday evening.
Custodio finished with 10 kills and a match-best 18 assists for the Blue who hit .295 for the match in knocking off the Cougars for the second time in less than a week.
Game scores were 25-20, 25-17 and 25-14 in game three when Wellesley pounded out 17 kills on a sizzling .483 hitting.
Clark was paced by junior Kristin McGinty (Vail, Colo.), who tallied nine kills, while senior Maritza Fair (The Bronx, N.Y.) collected eight kills and 11 digs.
Despite the loss, the Cougars end their season with a winning record (13-12) for the first time since 2001.
Wellesley, meanwhile, advances to the semifinals for the fourth straight season and will face Coast Guard on Saturday at Springfield.
