New Haven, Conn. - The Clark University men's
tennis team kicked off its 2010 season with a convincing 9-0 win
over host Albertus Magnus in a match originally scheduled to be
played on Tuesday but delayed a day because of weather.
Freshman Diego
Angel (Lima, Peru) had an impressive start to his
collegiate career, posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and then
teamed with classmate Harris
Rollinger (Lexington, Mass.) to cruise to a 8-0 win at
No. 1 doubles.
Junior Aaron
Chin (Hong Kong, China) was victorious for Clark at
No. 2 singles, going three sets to secure a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win.
All the other Cougar singles matches were 6-0, 6-0 wins, including
Rollinger at No. 3, Dan
Paradee (Gardiner, Maine) at No. 4, Nathan
Maltais (Seabrook, N.H.) at No. 5 and Marcus
Abramson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) at No. 6.
In the other doubles matches, Chin and Phillip
Porter (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) claimed an 8-1 win at
No. 2 and freshmen Dan Hall
(Sutton, Mass.) and Bram
Smith (Becket, Mass.) were 8-1 winners at No. 3.
The season-opening win for Clark marks their first since 2005. The
Cougars are back in action tomorrow when they visit Rhode Island
College.
