Worcester, Mass. – Clark junior D.J. Bailey (Palmer, Mass.) came off the bench to score a career-high 11 points and block five shots as the host Cougars pulled away from visiting Tufts, 64-51 in non-conference men's basketball action on Tuesday evening.

The Jumbos' Scott Anderson (Sudbury, Mass.) finished with a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds.

Bailey finished 5-for-5 from the field in just 23 minutes of action.

The win for Clark snaps a three-game losing streak and sends their record to 6-9, while Tufts fall back to .500 at 6-6.

In addition to Bailey's career-best performance, classmate Brian Vayda (Sturbridge, Mass.) added 13 points, three rebounds and four steals, while sophomore Tucker Esborn (Branford, Conn.) added 12 points off the bench.

Clark shot 51 percent from the field for the game, even though they connected on just 1-of-9 three-point attempts.

The Cougars had a season-high 16 steals as a part of forcing 30 Tufts turnovers and turned those into 31 points.

The Jumbos controlled the glass, holding a 37-22 edge, as James Long (Norwell, Mass.) corralled a game-high 11.

Clark maintained the lead for the majority of the contest, and they answered every Jumbo run with one of their own. The last Tufts flurry came late in the second half after they whittled a 10 point deficit down to three at 53-50 with 3:36 left.

The Cougars put the game away with a game-ending 11-1 run, as the NEWMAC's best free throw shooting team, connected on 9-of-10 down the stretch.

Clark returns to the hardwood on Saturday when they visit MIT, while the Jumbos open NESCAC play on the same day with a home contest against Middlebury.
